It is a pleasure to serve the Sterling High School District as Superintendent this academic year 2017-2018. I look forward to working with students, staff, administration and this great community in carrying out the new vison and mission recently established by the Strategic Planning Committee 2016-2021.

Strategic Planning 2016-2021 will ensure our district’s commitment to excellence. The committee has identified areas of emphasis that will improve our district and is currently planning strategies to meet those areas. Please visit our website for the most updated vision, mission, and areas of improvement.

Extensive construction projects will continue this year. Once the 2017-2018 school year is complete, the students and community will be able to see the benefits of auditorium renovations, roof replacement, interior renovations to bathrooms and security doors, HVAC renovations throughout the high school, and athletic field upgrades which will include the construction of new tennis courts. Most of these projects are funded by ROD Grants and the 2016 Bond Referendum. 2018 and beyond will bring us the third year of extensive construction projects that will include the relocation of several athletic fields and the creation of additional parking for students, staff and the community. Many of these projects are important to upgrade our systems and correct significant facility problems in the school building and grounds.

The 2017-2018 school year presents our students with unprecedented opportunities to learn. Sterling High School District is committed to ensuring students who graduate are prepared for life after high school. Over the last four years, Sterling High School students have made tremendous academic advances.

  • Over the last two years overall Advanced Placement Scores have increased over 40%

  • In 2016, The Sterling High School NJROTC Program was officially approved by the United States Navy

  • Camden County Office of Education QSAC Monitoring rated Sterling High School as “High Performing” in 2016.

  • 2015-2016 NJ School Report Card reported significant increases in student SAT and PARCC scores.

  • The class of 2017 was offered scholarships that exceeded 7.3 million dollars.

  • In the last 4 years, Sterling High School students involved in the Allied Health and Health Science program have earned 560 college credits.

  • Ms. Mimma Cammarata, Sterling High School Italian Teacher, has been named the 2017-2018 Camden County Teacher of the Year.

  • By the 2018-2019 school year every student attending Sterling High School will have a 1:1 devise.

The Sterling High School District will continue to offer our students an opportunity to earn college credit and expand their learning experiences through School Choice Programs and Dual Credit Opportunities. Structured Learning Experiences, Allied Health and Health Science, Graphic Design, Early Child Development, NJROTC and TV Production are programs that prepare our students for college and the world of work. Our students earn hundreds of college credits through these learning activities.

Beyond the classroom, students have access to a wide range of extracurricular experiences and are encouraged to widen their world by taking full advantage of the diverse offerings. These extracurricular experiences promote respect and allow children to grow mentally and physically.

My greeting to the 2017-2018 school year would not be complete without mentioning our highly qualified staff. It is a pleasure to work with such committed staff members who are interested in advancing student learning. The entire staff prides itself on delivering the best instruction.

I invite parents and families of this district to be actively involved in Sterling High School’s school activities and events as often as possible. We value your talent, ideas, involvement, engagement and support for learning. Together we can achieve success!

Thank you again for visiting the Sterling High School website and have a great school year.
