Principal’s Message

Dear Parents and Students,

Welcome to Sterling High School for the 2017-18 school year! We are excited about our successes and anticipate that this year will be even better than the previous years. We are delighted to have both you and your child along for the journey.

Sterling High School has a competent, caring staff, and they are prepared to assess each student’s learning style and abilities and to coordinate activities that will enhance every student’s academic growth. Through well-planned, collaborative sessions of school-wide, departmental, and district professional development initiatives, teachers share and implement research-based strategies that promise to motivate and educate students in reaching their fullest potential. We encourage you to inform our teachers of any needs or concerns your child may have so that we may provide each student an opportunity to have a productive and rewarding experience.

Please take an active role and interest in your child’s education by accessing OnCourse Connect, reviewing the Student Handbook, and attending Back to School Nights and Parent Teacher Conferences. Student success is based upon the successful partnership between the teacher, administration, and the parents.  We ask for your support to help make your child’s time at Sterling a rewarding experience.

Finally, we are excited about the recent upgrades to our school.  We encourage you to attend co-curricular events to see for yourself how wonderful our campus is.  At SHS, we believe “One person can make a difference.” We are ready for the challenge to make great things happen.

School’s Mission Statement:

All students at Sterling High School will learn and achieve a high level of academic achievement exceeding the New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standards at all grade levels and national standards. We commit to a comprehensive system of support to assure this outcome.

Educationally yours,

Matthew Sheehan, Principal
