Dear Parents and Students,
Welcome to Sterling High School for the 2016 – 2017 school year! We are excited about our successes and anticipate that this year will be even better than the previous years. We are ecstatic about having your student with us.
Sterling High School has a competent, caring staff, and they are prepared to assess each student’s learning style and abilities and to coordinate activities that will enhance every student’s academic growth. Through well-planned, collaborative sessions of school-wide, departmental, and district professional development initiatives, teachers share and implement research-based strategies that promise to motivate and educate students in reaching their fullest potential. We encourage you to inform our teachers of any needs or concerns your child may have so that we may provide each student an opportunity to have a productive and rewarding experience.
Please take an active role and interest in your child’s education by accessing the OnCourse, reviewing the Student Handbook, and attending Back to School Nights and Parent Teacher Conferences. In addition, we ask that you provide students a special place at home to concentrate on learning and developmental goals.
Finally, we are excited about the recent upgrades to our school. We encourage you to attend co-curricular events to see for yourself how wonderful our campus is. At SHS, we believe “One person can make a difference.” We are ready for the challenge to make great things happen.
School’s Mission Statement:
To prepare our diverse student population with the skills necessary to succeed in a complex society by encouraging family involvement, using creative instructional practices, and providing experiences that increase the students’ opportunities for success.
