New Turf Procedures



NEW TURF PROCEDURES

Sterling High School is proud to open our new turf field for use beginning Spring 2023.  We ask that athletes, coaches, fans, and community members adhere to the rules of use listed below to keep our new turf clean and free from damage.

  • Metal cleats are prohibited. Athletes must wear molded cleats or screw-in cleats (maximum 1/2 inch).
  • Do not use track and field equipment on the turf, including discus, shotput, and javelin.
  • Training equipment (blocking sleds, etc.) may not be used on the turf.
  • Do not use anchors or stakes on the turf.
  • Goal nets used on the turf must have wheels. Do not drag or pull nets across the turf.
  • Gatorade or other beverages containing sugar are prohibited on the turf and on the sidelines.  Only water is permitted on the sidelines.
  • Chemicals and bleaching agents are prohibited.
  • Chewing gum and tobacco products are prohibited.
  • Seeds, including sunflower seeds, are prohibited.
  • Pets are prohibited.
  • Chairs or other furniture brought onto the turf must have protective covers on the legs to prevent turf damage.
  • UPDATED: For the Spring 2023 season, spectators for lacrosse, field hockey, and soccer are to sit in the AWAY section of the bleachers only.  Spectators should not sit in the HOME bleachers located behind the team benches.
